Summer is just about to begin and this year my daughter decided not to attend summer camp. Now we are trying to decide on things to make her summer full of adventures. When she was little she found a love for water and splashing around. We are looking at beaches to visit, ones we have not been to before as a family. We don’t want to spend our day driving so we need to find ones that are no more than 2-3 hours to get to.
Beaches to Visit
Lake Huron
Sauble Beach is the second longest freshwater beach in the world. Bask in the sun on seven miles of beautiful, clean beach on the Saugeen Shores.
A white sand, clear water beach along the Huron Shores, Southampton is beautiful and quiet town to visit for a relaxing time away.
In Port Elgin, you’ll find 6 amazing beaches. The white sand beaches suit a family day at the beach complete with playground.
Lake Simcoe
Innisfil Beach Park provides access to Lake Simcoe for swimming, boating, fishing and a playground for the kids.
Lake Erie
If you are visiting Turkey Point there are different areas to visit. You can head to Turkey Point Provincial Park or head to the village for a nice stretch of beach areas.
Port Dover is famous for the Friday the 13th Motorcycle Ride. Walk along the streets and visit the shops before hitting the beach.
If you are heading to any beach for the day, make sure to leave early enough so you get a good spot. If you wait until late in the day, you may not find the perfect location.
We plan to visit 3 beaches over the summer and splash around in the sun.
What are some of your favourite beaches?
