When I get into a creative mood, I love to create with clay pots and usually do up wind chimes or snowmen. This time around I wanted to create something for Thanksgiving to use as part of a centrepiece. I decided on a clay pot turkey. I wanted to add in some fall colours for my decor to leave up until it is time to decorate for Christmas.
Clay Pot Turkey
Materials Used
- Clay pot – size of your choice
- paint and brushes – I used a light brown
- artificial fall leaves
- glue gun or craft glue
- small piece of felt or foam (beak)
- google eyes
- styrofoam ball
- craft sealer
Directions
For this project, I used a previously painted pot that I had in my craft cupboard. I have an old TV table I use to do all of my painting and crafts on.
Apply 2-3 coats of paint, letting dry between each coat. Using the same colour paint, add 2-3 coats onto the foam ball. Take the can of sealer and spray the foam ball and clay pot and let dry.
Take 4-5 leaves and glue them on the clay pot in an open fan position. Glue the foam ball on the top of the clay pot and add the google eyes and cut out a small triangle from the felt for the beak.
The clay pot turkey is complete and I will be adding it to a centrepiece that I am in the process of making.
