How to Plan the Ultimate Staycation

Set Ground Rules

Too many people use a staycation as a chance to catch up on work, laundry, emails and household chores. Remember, this is not the time for that. In fact, it is a good idea to unplug from devices and social media for a while. Gather your family together and take the time to set other guidelines to follow throughout your staycation.

Get Ready

Over the course of your staycation, you will not be performing regular household tasks, so it is a good idea to get that cleaning and laundry done the week before. If you find yourself too busy to do it all at once, use some of the money you are saving from not going on a pricey vacation, to hire someone to clean up for you. It is much easier to let go and relax if you don’t have the household tasks looming over you.

Meal Plan

Make sure that you have local take out menus on hand for those nights you want to order in. Remember, the person who usually does the cooking in your family deserves a break as well. Make sure to plan what you will be eating during your staycation. Stock your fridge with ready to eat meals, easy snacks and make a list of restaurants that you have wanted to try. Make it a point to stock up on disposable utensils, plates and cups so you can avoid dishes as much as possible for the week.

Plan Activities

It is a good idea to plan some activities to do while on your staycation. While free time is a big part of any relaxing staycation, you don’t want to get bored either. Plan easy and relaxing activities like a movie night, making sure you have everything you need to execute your plans.

Leave the House

A staycation doesn’t mean that you must be trapped indoors. In fact, it can be the perfect time to go and explore your area. Check out local farmer’s markets, visit a zoo or just go to the mall.
Having a break from normal, everyday life doesn’t have to mean visiting an exotic destination, it can be as simple as planning some down time at home. Plan your next staycation soon to experience some much needed rest and relaxation without having to break the bank.

Maybe knock a few items off your Spring Bucket List but whatever you do, enjoy the time to relax and have fun with your family.
