Casting Changes -That’s Show Biz!

We all have our favourite shows to watch and each week we enjoy seeing the same actor portray a character throughout the series.

I find that most casting changes are usually done on daytime TV on a Soap Operas, where they go from one soap to the next and sometimes returning to a previous soap as a new character. Probably the most confusing changes. One day you are watching someone on General Hospital and the next day they are on The Young and The Restless.
Casting Changes

Take Days Of Our Lives for instance. Roman Brady was originally played by Wayne Northrop and later replaced by Josh Taylor, who had been on the show years before as Chris Kositchek.

How about Darren Stevens on Bewitched, he was played by both Dick York and Dick Sargent, confusing me because I never new which Dick was Darren.

How about when on Roseanne, Becky returned a brand new Becky although I thought both Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke were similar in looks making it an almost seamless transition from Lecy to Sarah and then back to Lecy.

When you get use to seeing a character on a show for so long and then their contract is up and decide not to renew it, we get a new actor if they decide not to kill the character off. It takes some time to get use to the new actor. Sometimes we do and sometimes we don’t, but if we really truly like the show, we continue watching.

Have you stopped watching a show because a character left or you didn’t like the actor? Do you watch shows with actors you don’t like?
