Family Tradition – Canadian National Exhibition

Visiting the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) has been a family tradition since I was a little girl and continues today. It has been a tradition for many Canadians since it began in 1879 as The Toronto Industrial Exhibition and is now also known as The Ex. The CNE is open for 18 days beginning August 19 and runs until September 5, 2016. As a young girl, I would go with my father, who would be in the Warrior’s Day Parade on the first Saturday after opening.  He played drums in a … Continue reading

Train Restoration – Preserving History – Toronto Railway Museum

We recently headed downtown to the Toronto Railway Museum for a tour and a glimpse into the train restoration. We love touring around Toronto, learning the history of the sites and taking in all that is around us. It had been a couple of years since we last visited, my daughter was excited to return. Train Restoration The museum opened in 2010 with the help of the Toronto Historical Railway Association and the many volunteers who gave time and energy in the preservation of the trains. The Roundhouse was originally … Continue reading

Hidden Hotel Costs – Be Aware!

Hidden-Hotel-Costs

In July, I had booked a room in the Novotel Hotel- Mississauga, to be near an event my daughter was to be in on July 26. My reservation was confirmed and the amount to be paid at the hotel was stated. I was not aware of any other hidden hotel costs, until we arrived at our destination and slapped with a cost of a security deposit. I have stayed at a few hotels in the past and have never had to pay a security deposit, unless I was traveling with … Continue reading

Disneyland -The Happiest Place on Earth

Disneyland

Back in February 2012, I took my 18 month old daughter to California to meet her Aunt for the first time. Weeks before I worried about how she would react to the plane rides. I feared she would be over active and not sit still for the entire trip. Boy was I wrong. She was quiet and peaceful, meaning she slept for most of the plane ride. My daughter is a fan of Disney Junior, she watches it every day, her favourite is Mickey and Minnie Mouse (meme as she … Continue reading

Hollywood Walk of Fame

Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Walk of Fame runs 1.3 miles (2.1 km) east to west on Hollywood Boulevard. When visiting California, it was on my list of things to do while there. It is probably one of the most visited attractions. Remember though, it is a long hot walk so you will want to bring water and most of all sunscreen. It was an amazing feeling as I followed the stars along the boulevard, recognizing the names as I walked. Now remember this is a big attraction, so there will be crowds … Continue reading

Australia My Dream Destination

Australia -Sydney of Lights

Australia is my dream destination. I am sure we all have a place that we want to visit more than any other place in the world. Since my late teens, Australia has always been that place for me. When I was in my late teens I began watching Neighbours and Home and Away, 2 Australian soap operas that were in Canada for a short time. I guess after watching them I was hooked on the destination. I began researching my big adventure and have never stopped. Whether it be swimming … Continue reading
