Eye Care – When Your Child’s Specialist Fails Their Eyes

Eye Care

Our daughter was born with a lazy eye, we noticed when she was a few months old. Eye care is very important at any age.  Yes, My Child Wears Glasses is all about how we noticed that my child would one day need to have her vision corrected. Our daughter has been seeing a specialist since she was about a year old. We tried taking her to our Optometrist but she just wouldn’t sit still. The eye tests were different. Not like the exam, she was accustomed too when she … Continue reading

Back to School Preparation Tips

Back-to-school

It is that time of year again when summer begins to wind down and we begin to prepare our children for back to school. Not only are we preparing our children, but preparing ourselves for the weeks ahead. Getting reading for back to school isn’t just about buying clothes and supplies but about schedules. During the summer we never followed any schedules unless we had plans for the day. Sleeping in and staying up late occurred often. Well, not for me, I am usually always up early. With only a … Continue reading

Family Tradition – Canadian National Exhibition

Visiting the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) has been a family tradition since I was a little girl and continues today. It has been a tradition for many Canadians since it began in 1879 as The Toronto Industrial Exhibition and is now also known as The Ex. The CNE is open for 18 days beginning August 19 and runs until September 5, 2016. As a young girl, I would go with my father, who would be in the Warrior’s Day Parade on the first Saturday after opening.  He played drums in a … Continue reading

We recently headed downtown to the Toronto Railway Museum for a tour and a glimpse into the train restoration. We love touring around Toronto, learning the history of the sites and taking in all that is around us. It had been a couple of years since we last visited, my daughter was excited to return. Train Restoration The museum opened in 2010 with the help of the Toronto Historical Railway Association and the many volunteers who gave time and energy in the preservation of the trains. The Roundhouse was originally … Continue reading

Play Learn Read - Adventures on Ooka Island

I don’t remember when I began reading, I do remember always having books to read. When I was given books for birthdays and Christmas I would dive into the new book. We have been buying books for our daughter since she was a baby and love for us to read her … Continue reading
